Backyard for Apple Watch
Privacy Policy
Backyard is published by flyaurelien. It has no account, advertising, analytics, third-party SDK, or publisher-operated network service. The publisher does not collect, receive, sell, or share personal data from the app.
Effective August 12, 2026
Health and fitness data
With your permission, Backyard reads the distance and heart-rate measurements provided by Apple Watch during an active workout. The app uses this information on the watch to show loop distance, pace, heart rate, and progress.
When you finish a race, Backyard saves an outdoor running workout to Apple Health. Permission to write the workout is required to start a race. Permission to save a route is optional; declining it leaves the workout fully functional without a route map. A saved workout can include one lap event for each completed loop.
Health data is stored and handled by Apple Health under your device and iCloud settings. Backyard does not use health or fitness data for advertising, marketing, data mining, or sale.
Location data
When both Health route sharing and Location permission are granted, Backyard receives location updates during the workout to create the optional route associated with the saved workout.
If route sharing is declined, Backyard does not start route location updates. Location is processed on the watch and written to Apple Health as part of the route. It is not transmitted to the publisher and is not used for advertising or tracking.
Settings and race recovery
Backyard stores app settings and a temporary race-recovery snapshot locally on the watch. This preserves the fixed race schedule if the app is interrupted.
After a race reaches its final result, the snapshot remains only while the Health workout is being finalized. It is removed when finalization completes or when the race is discarded.
Retention and deletion
The publisher does not retain personal data because Backyard does not transmit app data to the publisher. You can delete saved workouts and routes in Apple Health. Delete Backyard from the watch to remove its local settings and any unfinished race snapshot.
Children
Backyard is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before that version is released.
